How does carrying extra weight make you feel? Do you feel uncomfortable? Do you feel like you are not being the best you can be? Does it erode your happiness and joy? Do you wish it could be easy to just eat, be lean, well and gorgeous? You are not alone. 68% men and 55% women in Australia found to be overweight or obese (2007-2008 National Health Survey). This statistic reflects that is over half our population are potentially feeling uncomfortable with the weight they are currently are carrying.
Why does carrying extra weight feel so wrong? It is because it is not our normal and natural state of being. Our normal and natural state of being is lean, well, healthy and vital. For everyone has a core foundation within which is intrinsically one of total wellness.
So if it is authentic to be lean, well and healthy then where does it all go wrong? Why then do so many of us struggle constantly with eating and weight?
What I have discovered from working with many individuals is the fact they think they have a problem with their eating and weight and that is the cause of their struggle with food and weight. Let me explain!
If you think you are something then you become who you think you are. So, if you think you are an ‘overeater’ or you ‘don’t know when to stop eating’ or you are ‘useless and hopeless and can never get it ‘right’’. Then guess what? This is exactly what you become. No matter how vibrant, brilliant and healthy you are at your core. It is who you think you are that dictates the actions you take and the eating and body you design.
So if you feel ‘uncomfortable’ in your skin it is because you are thinking you are something other than you authentically are.
How do you align your thinking then to match who you truly are within? For if your core truth is you are vibrant, healthy, lean and well and your outside picture is overweight then how do we have these pictures match up?
First step is actually thinking yourself out of the problem and into thinking in alignment with whom you truly are. So who are you? In my experience at the core of every client I meet is a ‘Magnificence’ that is theirs to be expressed in their unique way. This ‘Magnificence’ contains an imprint of how to eat and exercise that is ‘right’ and fits best for the individual. It is rewarding, satisfying and fulfilling and ensures that only ‘Magnificent’ health, well-being and looks result. By very simply adding the statement ‘Magnificent. I am Magnificent’ as part of ones moment-to-moment ‘self-talk’ the ‘Magnificence’ then has a chance to rise up and ignite the mind with its profound energy. The mind is then filled with the practicalities as to ‘how to’ eat in a way that is authentic, ‘right’ and best. Does ‘Magnificence’ drive you to hurt yourself, to eat more than you need or exercise less than you need? No it does not. Why? Because it only wants the best for you so it will only inspire you to take the ‘right’ and best action for you.
Second step, persist with your new mind-set. Even if you think ‘This is not working’ or ‘I feel worse not better’. Often when you start to think ‘Magnificently’ it challenges your old mind-set. Your previous mind-set is what you have been used to for a long time. So when you start to shift your focus it can ‘hold on tight before it lets go’. This is a natural part of the process of change. If you are aware of this to begin with then you will flow more smoothly through this stage.
Third step, as you persist and stick with your new mind-set you will notice gradually how differently you start to feel around food and eating. You will start to notice that your mind and energy are no longer pre-occupied with thinking or trying to not think about food, eating (or not eating) and having to lose weight. For your mind is focused elsewhere now and where it is focused is in a space where ‘Magnificence’ can be fully realised in a healthy, constructive and positive way. So the need to eat more food than you actually require starts to evaporate. All you feel like doing is eating only the food you need to feel fantastic and look great. You lose the cravings for those foods you think you should not be eating. There is no struggle here.
What you gain is the ability to wisely control your eating without being controlling. You have flexibility in your food choices for the key is you never eat more than you actually need because the ‘Magnificence’ is in control now. So not only do you find the key to weight loss you have found the key to maintaining a healthy weight range. Which is just as important as losing the weight itself.
It is a worthy process to embrace for it can sustain and create an experience of life that is so rewarding, enriching and liberating for life is meant to be an experience of ‘Magnificence’.
You are in control of your eating and your weight because you are free to think anything you choose about who you think you are or could be… nothing short of ‘Magnificent’ is your divine right… So why not chose to think positive. And remember the age old saying – “What you think about, you bring about!”
